Fishery Sector Needs Bank Assistance

Tempo Interactive, Friday, 11 December, 2009 | 11:12 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The Maritime and Fishery Minister Fadel Muhammad has called for a special allocation for the fishery sector around 20 to 25 percent from the People’s Businesses Credit (KUR) or Rp20 trillion per year.

“If this is approved, Rp500 billion can be allocated for the first stage,” Fadel said.

The request was intended to reach the target for fishery products in 2015 which went up to 353 percent.

The fund is used to create new businessmen in the fishery sector.

Farmers raising fish in ponds also need to be encouraged to develop new ponds.
